From YipYapMeow

Good and proper nutrition is perhaps the single most important factor in the health and well-being of our pets. The pet food recall in 2007, which called for the removal of a large number of products to be removed from store shelves, inspired pet owners to take a closer look at what they were feeding their pets. Owners discovered that expensive commercial brands did not necessarily equate to the best nutrition for our pets. These more expensive brands of pet food were actually, in many cases, low in nutritional value, not to mention filled with questionable ingredients.

For many pet owners(including myself), we began to question what ingredients were going into our pets as well as where those ingredients had come from. Terms we had never encountered or considered came to light, such as "fillers", "contaminants", and "by-products". What do these terms really mean?

In addition, the variety of pet food was also overwhelming. Every company will tell the potential buyer that their food is the best and most healthy. However, how do we know for sure? What makes one brand healthier than another? Is organic or natural food better and healthier? Should I switch to a raw diet? Will my pet really benefit from a more "natural" diet?

At YipYapMeow, we know the amount of information out there about our pet's health and food can be daunting. Yet, if you found our site, you are already on the journey to looking for answers and providing your pets the very best. To answer some of your questions, we have pulled together information provided by some of the food manufacturers we use regarding the ingredients and nutrition that go into pet food. Please take a moment to read through these articles before deciding on what food is right for your family, your lifestyle, and your pet.

And, as always, please e-mail us at any time with questions you may have about specific foods listed on our site.
